Outlook forwarding rules won’t work
I have Outlook 2007 with 2003 Microsoft exchange server. I have tried every conceivable combination of auto forwarding using both the rules wizard in outlook 2007 and the rules options in the remote web workplace(which tells me they are server side rules). The e-mail addresses I am trying to forward to are internal on the same exchange server as I am. The rules do work when run manually. I have enabled the auto forwarding option on the server under internet messaging. I have also made sure my mailbox size is not the issue. I have tried everything I can think of or suggested to me and have spent 6 months looking at numerous help sites and nothing works. Anyone who can solve this will be my hero. Thanks in advance.

Hi, Did you set that rule with just one user who will be received that forwarded email by that rule ? or Is there any specific log from eventvwr or outlook diagnostic log ? Lastly if possible please explain that rule in more detail. -MG

Hi, I suggest we attempt the following method to troubleshoot the issue: Step 1: Exported the rules (Tools\Rules and Alerts\ Options\Export Rules). Step 2: Run Outlook /CleanRules Step 3: Use MFCMAPI to clear corrupted rules ======================= 1. Close Outlook and Run MFCmapi.exe. 2. Select Session -> Logon and Display stores. 3. Select the outlook profile for the concern user and click OK. 4. Select Mailbox - right click Open Store. 5. Expand Root Container. 6. Expand Top of Information Store. 7. Right click Inbox and select "Open Associated contents Table" 8. Under "Message Class" column delete all the entries with display name "IPM.Rule.Message" and IPM.ExtendedRule.Message Step 4: Close MFCMAPI and re-open Outlook and Import the rules( Tools\Rules and Alerts\ Options\ Import Rules). Thanks Mike Shen! I had a similar problem: I had several users whose rules would not work on internet mail. I tried re-creating the rules, /cleanrules, /cleanserverrules, /cleanclientrules, MFCMAPI perMS KB924297,new mail profile; nothing worked. Your step number 8 which says to delete "IPM.ExtendedRule.Message" did the trick. The Microsoft Knowledge Base article omits that step.
